What parents are asking silently:

  • “Am I doing this right?”

  • “Is it okay that this feels so hard?”

  • “Can someone guide me without judging me?”

You're Not Alone in This

Supporting a child with special needs at home can feel overwhelming, especially when traditional programs don’t fit your child or your family.

I’m LeCha Brown, a former special education teacher and now parent. In 2015, I created Reaching Exceptional Learners to support the needs of my own students. That evolved into providing support for thousands of teachers worldwide. More recently, that has shifted into helping families navigate learning at home with children with exceptional learning needs.

With years of classroom experience and a deep understanding of individualized learning, I now also help parents create learning approaches that feel realistic, supportive, and accessible.

This space was created to offer guidance, clarity, and encouragement as you support your child’s learning journey.

Parent Resource Hub

I have created this Parent Resources hub to help you along your journey. It includes a growing collection of guides created to support parents homeschooling children with special learning needs. Each resource focuses on one topic at a time, with clear explanations and realistic suggestions you can use right away.

My Why

Before my role as a parent, I spent over 10 years in special education classrooms working directly with a team of professionals including: Speech & Language Pathologists, Occupational Therapists, Physical Therapists, Board Certified Behavior Analyst, Vision & Hearing Specialist and most importantly, parents. I attended countless beginner to advanced level trainings. I have presented at conferences and was named as one of the teachers of the year in my district. I also received the Coach of the Year award at my districts Special Olympics, which I am the most proud of!

I am a lifelong learner and I have poured my heart into creating and teaching both my own learners as well as teaching adults how to teach learners with exceptional needs. Over the years, I have strived to help educate learners who need individualized support, flexible approaches, and accessible materials.

Over time, I saw how often families felt overwhelmed by school systems, rigid programs, or the pressure to “do it right.” When I became a parent myself, I understood even more deeply, and in a way I could have never understood before, how important it is for learning to feel realistic, supportive, and attainable to the child, not the other way around.

Reaching Exceptional Learners evolved from that understanding. What started as classroom resources for my own students out of necessity and lack of resources, has evolved into guidance and tools designed to help you feel capable and confident supporting learning at home.

This work is rooted in real experience, not perfection.

If you're here, you might be wondering...

  • Where do I start with homeschooling or learning at home?

  • How do I teach my child in a way that actually works for them?

  • What skills should I focus on first?

  • How do I support learning without constant frustration?

  • Am I doing enough, or doing it “right”?

If any of these sound familiar, you’re in the right place.
